چکیده

Post-quantum cryptography has attracted increased attention in the last couple of years, due to the threat of quantum computers breaking current cryptosystems. In particular, the key size and performance of post-quantum algorithms became a significant target for optimization. In this spirit, Alkim et al. have recently proposed a significant optimization for a key exchange scheme that is based on the R-LWE problem. In this paper, we build on the implementation of Alkim et al., and focus on improving the algorithm for generating a uniformly random polynomial. We optimize three independent directions: efficient pseudorandom bytes generation, decreasing the rejection rate during sampling, and vectorizing the sampling step. When measured on the latest Intel processor Architecture Codename Skylake, our new optimizations improve over Alkim et al. by up to 1.59x on the server side, and by up to 1.54x on the client side.

Post-quantum key exchange for the TLS protocol from RLWE problem

Lattice-based cryptographic primitives are believed to offer resilience against attacks by quantum computers. We demonstrate the practicality of post-quantum key exchange by constructing ciphersuites for the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol that provide key exchange based on the ring learning with errors (R-LWE) problem ; we accompany these ciphersuites with a rigorous proof of security....

spKEX: An optimized lattice-based key exchange

The advent of large-scale quantum computers has resulted in significant interest in quantum-safe cryptographic primitives. Lattice-based cryptography is one of the most attractive post-quantum cryptographic families due to its well-understood security, efficient operation and versatility. However, LWE-based schemes are still relatively bulky and slow. In this work, we present spKEX, a forward-s...

CRYSTALS - Kyber: a CCA-secure module-lattice-based KEM

Recent advances in quantum computing and the announcement by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to define new standards for digital-signature, encryption, and keyestablishment protocols increased interest in post-quantum cryptographic schemes. This paper introduces Kyber (part of the CRYSTALS – Cryptographic Suite for Algebraic Lattices – package that will be submitted to...

Module-LWE key exchange and encryption: The three bears

We propose a new post-quantum key exchange algorithm based on the module learning with errors (mLWE) problem. Our ThreeBears algorithm is simple and performant, but our main goal is to suggest mLWE over a generalized Mersenne field instead of a polynomial ring. We also show how to build a public-key encryption system from the key exchange algorithm.

A Hybrid Lattice Basis Reduction and Quantum Search Attack on LWE

Recently, an increasing amount of papers proposing postquantum schemes also provide concrete parameter sets aiming for concrete post-quantum security levels. Security evaluations of such schemes need to include all possible attacks, in particular those by quantum adversaries. In the case of lattice-based cryptography, currently existing quantum attacks are mainly classical attacks, carried out ...
